                                                           - Fill the 5L from the tap
                                                           - Empty the water in 5L into the 3L
                                                           - Pour water in 3L away
                                                           - Fill the 3L with the leftover 2 litres from 5L
                                                           - Fill the 5L from the tap again
                                                           - Fill up the 3L with the refilled 5L

                                                     The above steps leave exactly 4 litres in the 5L.
