Tuwo is a
Nigerian meal which is predominantly eaten in the northern part of the country. It is
made from cooked rice and can be eaten with any soup of choice.
Today you’ll be
preparing your own Tuwo.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of Rice.
- To begin the process take a medium-sized pot and fill half of it with recently boiled water. Place the pot on medium heat.
- Take your 4 cups of rice and rinse with cold water, after rinsing your rice, add it to the boiling water and cook on medium heat for 30mins.
- After 30mins of cooking, check your rice using a tablespoon and scoop out a small amount of rice, check by pressing the rice with your fingers, if it feels mashed and it dissolves immediately between your fingers you can begin to mash it with a wooden spoon, if it doesn't, add more water and cook on low heat for another 20mins.
- Once your rice is soft and can dissolve, begin to mash and stir with a wooden spatula for 3mins, add a quarter cup of water to it and cover it up allowing it to simmer for 3mins and then stir again till the mass of Tuwo is smooth and Your Tuwo is Ready!.
You can serve Tuwo with any soup you want, be it egusi soup or Okoro soup.
