Little Farmers; Plant onions in a container

Late last year towards early this year onions was extremely expensive, previously 5 medium size onions were sold for 100naira but early this year 2 small balls of onions was sold for 100naira. During that period, it was frustrating, and I am sure you also felt the frustration, buy something that is cheap at a costly price. Today we will learn how to plant onions in a container.

Tools

·       20liters bucket

·       Manure or compost

·       Soil

·       Onion head (this is the seed)

·       Water

Process:

To plant your onions take your 20liters bucket and fill half to the buck with manure/compost, add ¼ of soil to the manure and mix both components together. After mixing, place your onion head on the soil,( you can place 3-4 onion heads on the soil), let it seat into the soil properly, and water.

Unlike other plants, onions do not need watering every day it should be done once a week, early in the morning. Your onions should be ready between 3-6 month and each onion head will produce about 2-4 balls of onions, you can sprinkle liquid manure to the onions during growth for you to have bountiful produce.
