Plantain chips
is of the most loved snack in Nigeria, you can find it sold anywhere, it
commonly available in 2 flavours, the original plantain chips taste and the spicy
hot plantain chips taste. For today’s DIY, we will be making the spicy hot
plantain chips.
Ingredients:
- 2 Unripe
plantain
- 1 Liter of
vegetable oil
- 1 Ball of onions
- 3 Gloves of
garlic
- ½ A tablespoon
of salt
- ½ A tablespoon
of grounded pepper
- ½ A teaspoon of
grounded ginger.
Preparation:
To begin, slice your
plantain thinly into a bowl of water, once you have sliced the plantain. Place the frying pan on medium heat, empty your vegetable oil into the frypan, peel
your onions, cut into half and place them into the oil, peel your garlic and place it into the oil also. While your oil is heating up, drain your
plantain from the water and sprinkle the salt onto it, mix it all together and
add the plantain to the hot oil gently, make sure you add it in a way that the
plantain will not stick together.Once the
plantain is in the oil stir often so the chips will fry evenly, once they turn
golden brown scoop them out of the oil, into a drain, immediately add the
grounded ginger and pepper to the chips and mix them together. Your spicy hot
chips are ready, easy peasy. Try this out on your own and have a taste of this
snack goddess.
