The Ekwe.
The Ekwe (Silt drum) is a traditional musical instrument used by the Igbos in Africa to create music at cultural events, coronation or festivals. It is made from hollowed wooden trunks and rectangular slits cut at the top. The slit drum has different sounds for special signals such as to summon citizen for a meeting at the Obi ( King) palace.
