How to prepare "Meat Pie"
The Meat pie is a popular snack in West Africa made up a pastry case, diced carrots, diced potatoes and beef. Traditionally white flour is mainly used for making Meat pie but due to curios adventure, some people use wheat flour and other flours.
Ingredients:
Flour
Salt
Baking powder
Water
Eggs
Butter
For the meat pie filling:
Onions
Spices
Pepper
Seasonings
Carrots
Irish Potato
Minced meat
Directions:
- Mix the flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and butter together ensuring the flour is well rubbed till you get a crumbly texture
- Break the eggs with cold water and add them to the flour, mix the dough until it is well-formed and wrap the dough with cling film. Refrigerate for 30-40 min.
- Prepare the filling in a large pan with oil. add your Sauce, onion, diced carrots, meat. Season them with thyme, salt, pepper and flour. Stir and cook for 3-4 min.
- Roll the dough to a 5mm thickness and use a meat pie cutter to round cuts on the rolled out dough.
- Set your oven to 170 degrees C and bake for 30-40 minutes, until it turns golden.
- Take out and eat as desired.
