Ojojo is a Nigerian snack popularly taken in South-western part of Nigeria. It is made from water yam. This snack is crispy on the outside and it is gooey and yummy on the inside.
Ingredients:
- 1 Tuber of water yam
- 3 Small red peppers (rodo)
- 1 Onion
- 3 Seasoning cubes
- ½ Tablespoon of salt
- ½ Cup of crayfish
- ½ A litre of vegetable oil.
Preparation:
Dice your pepper
and onions, boil a cup of water and when it reaches boiling point, pour the water
on your crayfish, leave in water for 3mins and drain.
- Now take your water yam, peel and grate it using the small side of your grater.
- Ensure the grated water yam is sticky and in liquid form.
- Pour your vegetable oil into a pan and set it on medium heat.
- Add the diced pepper, onions, crayfish, seasoning cubes and salt, mix with thoroughly with your hand.
- Scoop your water yam mixture with your hand in bits and add to the hot oil.
- Let all parts of each Ojojo ball fry till golden brown then take them out of the oil.
Your Ojojo is ready. Let it cool and enjoy.
