Nigerian Snack: How to Prepare Ojojo


Ojojo is a Nigerian snack popularly taken in South-western part of Nigeria.
 It is made from water yam. This snack is crispy on the outside and it is gooey and yummy on the inside. 

Below is how to make your own Ojojo.

Ingredients:


  • 1 Tuber of water yam
  • 3 Small red peppers (rodo)
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 Seasoning cubes
  • ½ Tablespoon of salt
  • ½ Cup of crayfish
  • ½  A litre of vegetable oil.

Preparation:                  

Dice your pepper and onions, boil a cup of water and when it reaches boiling point, pour the water on your crayfish, leave in water for 3mins and drain.



  • Now take your water yam, peel and grate it using the small side of your grater. 
  • Ensure the grated water yam is sticky and in liquid form. 
  • Pour your vegetable oil into a pan and set it on medium heat.


  • Add the diced pepper, onions, crayfish, seasoning cubes and salt,  mix with thoroughly with your hand. 
  • Scoop your water yam mixture with your hand in bits and add to the hot oil. 
  • Let all parts of each Ojojo ball fry till golden brown then take them out of the oil.

Your Ojojo is ready. Let it cool and enjoy.
