Nigerian Tradition: Iya - Olumo

Iya Olumo.

Iya Olumo, the woman in charge of where sacrifices are made to appeal to the gods of the rock, the Olumo shrine.

She was born in the late 19th century, 1885 as Chief Mrs Sinatu Aduke Sanni A.K.A "Iya Orisa".
Chief Sinatu Aduke lived under the Olumo rock a major tourist centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria all her life

She is the oldest woman in Ogun state and has witnessed about six coronations of  Alake of Egbaland.

- Oba Adesina Gbadebo II (1963-1971)

- Oba Oyebade Lipede (1972-2005)
