Nigerian Drink: Palm Wine


Nigerian Palm Wine.

Palm wine is called different names in every part of Nigeria. It's known as "Oguro or Emu" among the Yorubas, while the Igbos call it "Mmanya" and "Gya" in Hausa dialect. The drink is a fermented alcoholic beverage created from the sap of various species of palm tree such as coconut palms, Palmyra and date palms.
Palm wine is a sweet harmless, but crudely intoxicating drink served chilled in various relaxation joints. 
It has become a choice drink in most traditional and social gathering.

Palm wine is increasingly popular these days because many people see it as medicinal and natural. 

Some of its health benefits are:

- Help to fight cancer.
- Palm wine contains Vitamin C which helps maintain good eyesight.
- Its promotes lactation for nursing mothers.
- The vitamin B2 contained in the drink help fight cancer.
