Healthy Nigerian Food: Sweet Potatoes.

Although we Nigerians do not give a minute to notice but we are blessed with lots of rich foods and one of them is the sweet potato.

Sweet potato is a starchy root that is rich in fibre, minerals, vitamins and has low glycemic index which helps sugar control for diabetic patients.

Sweet potato is very affordable as 4 tubers of potatoes can go for as low as 200naira in the Nigerian market. The whole preparation of sweet potato takes nothing more than 40minutes.

You can have boiled sweet potatoes and fried eggs for breakfast, sweet potato porridge as lunch, and sweet potato fries and chicken topped with tomato sauce or pepper sauce for dinner.

(Sweet potato porridge)

(Sweet potato fries, chicken and sauce)

Anyhow you choose to have it you are sure you are eating a healthy Nigerian dish.
