During last year’s #Endsars protest one of the slang that was used during the episodes was #SOROSOKE
this slang was generated from one of Toyin Afolayan aka Lola Idije’s played characters
in a movie. Toyin Afolayan is a veteran Nigerian award-winning actress who has
had over 30 years of experience in the movie industry.
Lola is loved for her vigorous strength when translating
and bringing her given character to life, she acts naturally to the extent that
many people believed that the way she acts is actually her true character but Toyin
debunked this rumour in an interview, here are some quick facts about Toyin
Afonlayan.
It is no surprise that
when you hear Afonlayan, the first person you think about is the famous Kunle Afonlayan
the movie director and producer, the fact is Toyin Afolayan is actually related
to the said director, she is in fact his aunt, and his father Adeyemi Afolayan
(Adelove) was the one who introduced Toyin into the movie industry as he
himself was great in the industry before he passed on.
There is more to know
about Toyin, like she hailing from Kwara state, asides that she was born in a small town in the state on the 24th
of September in the year 1959 as of 2021, Toyin is 62years old.
Toyin Never thought of
herself as an actress but her brother made her give the career a try from then on she continued to progress in it winning the hearts of many audiences herself.
Asides from being a famous actress she
is also a grandmother, mother, and widow. She birthed 4 children, 3daughters
and a son, but she lost her son and husband many years ago, overcoming this
tragedy, she continues to love her daughters and grandchildren more.
Although Toyin never
saw herself as an actress when she first came into the industry, but she has
come to love the profession and on several occasions, she has mentioned that
she never going into retirement, she says she’ll be acting till she passes on.
It is a delight to see
that many actresses are passionate about their choice of career, especially
when it entails entertaining us and passing information to us, just as Toyin
Afonlayan has claimed we will surely be seeing more of her on our screens.
