DIY Yamarita

Yamarita is a native Nigerian dish, it is eaten mostly in the Northern part of Nigeria but it is definitely enjoyed by everyone who takes a bite of it. This is how to make Yamarita at home.

Ingredients:

1kg of Yam

2 eggs

1 cube of seasoning cube

1 cup of flour

 tablespoons of salt

1 teaspoon of Ginger powder

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

2 tablespoons of powdered pepper

1 liter of oil

Process:

Peel and slice the yam into medium sizes, boil in salted water for 20mins drain the water out of the yam pot and set aside. Break the eggs into a bowl, add to the eggs 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper, and 1 seasoning cube whisk it all together and set aside.

Empty the 1 cup of flour into another bowl, to the flour add 1 teaspoon of same 1 tablespoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of ginger, and 1 teaspoon of garlic. Then mix all the dry ingredients together.

Empty the oil into the frypan and set on low heat, take your slices of yam one by one, and then coat it in the egg wash, remove from the egg wash, and coat in with the flour, then back into the egg wash. Once you coat the yam with the egg wash the second time just place the coated yam fry, do the same for 3 more yams and let each side fry for 5mins each, once both sides of the yam are fried till  it looks golden brown, take it out and let them drain.

Your Yamarita is ready; you can enjoy this with fried fish or with a cup of juice.

Try this recipe and let me know how it went.
