Grow Sugarcane in a Container

Many people read our publications and laugh while many read it and are amused to the extent of trying out, today we bring you another amusing agricultural article on how to plant Sugarcane in a container, and we know it sounds crazy and impossible but read on and you will see how possible this is.

Tools:

  • A very big container, preferable 20-30 litres size of container; it should be 12-14 inches deep, ensure the container has drainages.
  • Compost and soil, any type of soil is okay for planting the sugar cane.
  • 6-foot long sugar cane, lookout for buds in the cane, it looks like a ring, if your sugarcane has about 8-10 of them then it’s ok for planting.

  • Water

Planting Process:

First and foremost empty your soil in the container, mixing the soil with the compost, then cut your sugarcane stalk into two equal lengths, dig the soil 2-3inches deep, and place one sugarcane sideways in the soil and cover it up. Do the same for the other stalks you have.

Moisten the soil do now over wet it and leave it to grow. You should see the plant sprout, after the next 7 weeks begin to feed your plant with fertilizer for them to grow longer, faster, and thicker.

Your sugarcane should be eating your self-grown sugarcane in the next 9 to 16months.
