Myth About "The Great Wall "  Of Benin Kingdom

- The ancient wall of Benin was four times longer than the wall of China, its length is about 16,000Km.

- The Benin wall was described in Guinness book of record in the 1974 edition as the biggest earthworks in the world before we got to the mechanical age.

- 100 times more of the material was used to build the wall than the Great Pyramid of Cheops.


- The wall provides a defensive barrier against enemies and invaders to the city.





- The Great Wall construction commenced around 800AD and finished around 1460AD.


- The Benin Kingdom community land is about 6500km


- The Great Wall ranged in gigantic 20 meters high, 66 feet around the whole Benin city.




- It took about 150millions of hours of digging and creating the Great Wall.


- Ethnomathematical method, which means the connection between culture and mathematics was used in constructing the Great wall, which was a marvel to the Europeans when the first land in Africa.


- The Great Wall was destroyed, burned down by the United Kingdom force around 1887. Most of the city Art and Bronzes was looted and taken by the United Kingdom.
