Nigerian Snack: Dodo Ikire

Dodo Ikire.

Dodo Ikire is an indigenous snack from the western part of Nigeria, Osun State. It is a snack that is black and round in shape form.

Overripe plantain, oil, salt are the main ingredients for Dodo Ikire.

Ikire is actually a town in the south-western part of Nigeria.
History made us know that the Dodo Ikire was actually made by a poor woman from Ikire village. She was home one day and had no food to eat except for an overripe plantain. So she decided to mash the Plantain together with salt, pepper then fried it. It came out good and she decided from that day onwards to monetize by frying and selling it to her community.
