Mini Biography of the Nigerian female Javelin thrower "Kelechi Nwanaga"


"Kelechi Nwanaga" (Javelin Thrower)

Kelechi Nwanaga is a Nigerian Javelin thrower who hailed from Umuoriehi Isingwu, Nigeria. She studied at the Florida State University USA and was born on the 24th of December. Around 2015 she made her debut international appearance at the African Junior Championships(2015). She won a silver medal at the competition.
A few months later after the end of 2015, She won the All African Junior Championships Gold medal at the All African Games in Congo Brazzaville. She also finished 4th at the medal table with a distance of 53.45m at the 2016 African seniors Athletics that took place in South Africa.

Kelechi broke the National record at the Ozoro Grand Prix in 2017 with a throw of 58.15m in distance breaking the former Nigerian record of 55.30m which was set by Sorochukwu Ihuefo at the African Championships in Tunisia 2002. The very talented Javelin thrower threw a distance of 56.96m at the Asaba 2018 All African Championships which also earned her a gold medal. She took on the momentum to the All African games in 2019 where she defended her Gold medal and once again stamped her feet as Africa's best.
