Cook Seafood Okra Soup With Just 2k (Naira)

We can all agree that times are very good now in Nigeria ( we don't want to declare the Negative) to the extent that whether you are earning in 5digit or in 6digits you definitely have to stick to your budget, yet there is always that one item that can make us exceed our budget which is food.

The importance of food can not be overemphasized and the growth of our foodie community is growing day by day, likewise the price of food items and ingredients.  Yet salaries are not increased, some businesses are shutting down and many can not make ends meet but all these wahala are"stories for the gods" for the stomach.

In this article I will be making a budget and step by step way to cook seafood okra soup with just two thousand naira only, this way you can eat a sumptuous meal on a very low budget, if you have just one thousand Naira, I will highlight the things you can do way within the list below. I would have added Garri (Eba) but don't let us push the naira too much we all know the truth, so let go shopping.

INGREDIENTS

You will buy the following ingredients

Okra: N100

Locust Beans (Iru) : N50 (optional)

Grounded pepper: N50

Palm Oil: N150

Potash: N20

Seasoning cubes: N50

Dried crayfish: N100

Titus Fish (Mackerel): N700 (You can get another type of fish for a lesser price eg Sardine)

Ponmo (cow skin): N200 (You can get this for N100 or take it away from the list)

Periwinkle: N400 ( You can do way with this)

Total: N1,820 only

You can still get half a derica of Gari for N180 if you haggle the price well.

TIME TO COOK

Now that you have your ingredients, it time to cook. Rinse the Fish, Cowskin (make sure the cowskin is well washed), Periwinkle, Dried crayfish, and Okra.

Once your ingredients are well rinsed, grate your okra with the grater or you can simply hand cut the okra into small pieces.

Once you've grated or cut the okra or hand-cut it, cut the cowskin into 5 pieces, then add the Okra, Cowskin, Fish, Crayfish, and Periwinkle into a medium-sized pot.  add half a cup of water to the pot, then add 1 teaspoon of grounded Pepper, one seasoning cube, half a teaspoon of salt, a pinch of potash, a tablespoon of locust beans, and 2 soup spoons of palm oil, add them all to the pot and give it a light stir.

Set the pot on medium heat and cook soup for just 5-7mins, give the soup a light stir and take the soup off the heat. Your seafood Okra soup is ready!!

You can enjoy the sumptuous low-budget soup with Eba, Amala, or even Semotiva.

Amazing!!!
