How To Plant Waterleaf in a Bucket.

Waterleaf plant is one of those vegetables that is most loved in Nigeria; it can be cooked alongside other vegetables or as a standalone vegetable soup. Enriched with so many nutrients it will be so bad if you can’t find out how to plant the lovely vegetable in your balcony

Things needed for planting are:

  • Waterleaf seeds (you’ll get them in the market or you might be lucky and find them still attached to a waterleaf you bought in the market)
  • Soil
  • Buckets with 3 to 4 drainages below
  • Water.
  • Planting

To begin the planting process, empty the soil into the bucket with drainage, you might love to add some manure, it is fine, then make a 2-inch deep hole in the soil and add 2 waterleaf seed to the hole cover it up with the soil, about 5 to 6 inches apart for the previous hole make another 2 inches deep hole in the soil add 2 seeds in the hole  and cover it up with soil, repeat this 2 more time in the same bucket and sprinkle some water on the planting.

Remember to water the plant every morning and evening or even night for the next 4 weeks, on the 2nd the week you will notice the vegetable sprout, continue to wet and once you notice the vegetable produce flowers and seeds then it is ready to harvest, if you are willing to replant, do not throw the produced seeds away but plant them, before you know it you will be eating waterleaf all year round.
