Emperor Pick Peters "Omo Ode" Find Out About Him Now

During the 70s and 80s  all the way down to the present day, our entertainment has witnessed some very talented artists who eventually evaporated into thin air, without a trace. No one knows what happened to them, where they are, why they left, or what they are currently up to. Some of these people go through depression, dark times, or even some financial difficulties, yet the world that once loved them does not bother to ask of them after they fizzle away. this is the tale for one of the most popular artists back, Emperor Pick Peters AkA Omo ode

In this article, I will give you a few points to remind and to help familiarize you with him. The major reason is so that our old classic music will not disappear just like the composers do.  At the end of this article,  you can get a few links to some of his songs available on online platforms. Click and enjoy.

1) Emperor Pick Peters AKA Omo Ode's real name is Akani Peters, both popular names of his are just stage names he took up while in the industry.

2) As a major artist in the juju genre of music back then, Pick had confirmed that he was never taught music, neither was he taught to play the guitar, an instrument he was popular for, according to one of his most recent interviews with writers and pressmen, he can play several musical instruments, but no one taught him either.

3) Pick began his career in the year 1969, the same year he was laid off from a pharmacy company he used to work for as a factory worker. He used all the fees the company paid him to buy a few musical instruments which he used to kick his talent into a career.

4) To show that his decision to go into was a go one, one of his first spots to perform professionally was at  Temi Ogbe  Hotel which was just opposite Fela's shine at  Idi Oro in Lagos state.

5) According to him there was no feud between him and King Sunny Ade, KSA, (one of the most respected Nigerian Musicians to date) they were all rumours. in his own disclosure, the song, E ki lo fun Omo ode, was just an excerpt KSA took from one of Ambrose Campbell's songs, which he later paid a royalty for, and to his own knowledge, the song was not directed to him.

6) During the success of his career, Emperor Peter Picks released 13 LPs, most of which were produced by African Songs Limited. his songs were widely accepted and recognized irrespective of the language used.

7) The nosedive of Peters's career came as a shock to him. According to him, In the year 1979, then his life turned upside down. The CEO of his then recording studio was swayed by a rumor he heard about his and decided to take big action. He took from Peter, all the instruments and bus his company bought for him. At this point, all peter worked for crumbled, the only thing he could say he got from the career was a house he built for himself.

The adventures of someone who is destined to be great is never easy, it comes with a lot of sacrifices and sometimes regrets.  Emperor Pick Peters is still alive and recently released an LP, hopefully, he gets back the fame he used to have before he passes on.
