Nigerian Tradition: Who is Olokun?

Olokun.
Olokun is an Orisha in the Yoruba religion who represents the deep sea and ruler of all bodies of water and wetland. Aje Spirit in charge of the great wealth and prosperity is also believed to be one of Olokun's children. Olokun is also a protector of the African in diaspora and works closely with the "Egungun" and "Oya" to deliver messages and request of the people to Olodumare.
Olokun is a female and male personification, that depends on the West Africa or region she/he worships. Olokun word is coined from "Olo" which mean owner and "Okun" meaning Ocean (Owner of the Ocean).
The Orisha is one of the dangerous and powerful Osha who is known to helping women that desire children.

Olokun worshippers always dress in pure white attire and their faces are painted with an Efun (white Chalk). The Orisha festival is a worldwide celebration in honour of Olokun.
