Things You Probably Don't Know About Sunny Ade

For a Gen Z reader of the article, you'll probably recognize KSA as the man who your parent's dance to his pretty long songs, his music sounds interesting but not your thing right!!.. For someone born this the 70s and 80s hearing, KSA songs can spark up nostalgia feelings. King Sunny Ade popularly called KSA has created amazing music during his highly active years, he is still active but not as he used to be. The King of Afropop he is rightly called, his music is evidence that he deserves the title. In this article we will pick out 5 things you probably don't know about the living legend, this is to familiarize his fans and yet to be fans with him, let's go!!!.

1) Widely known as King Sunny Ade, it's easy to assume that's actually his real name, but it isn't. KSA's real name is Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, and yes! He has real royal blood in his veins, but no he is not a crowned king of any town (wink!).

2) KSA was born on the 22nd of September in the year 1946, as of the year 2021, KSA marked his 75th birthday.

3) The road to success for KSA was quite rough and risky, he took all the risks and thankfully it paid off. One of the risks he took was dropping out of school. KSA dropped out of secondary school to pursue his dream to be a musician. This was without the knowledge of his parents for a while, as he lied to them that he was newly attending the University. The choice he made could have gone both ways, thankfully it went the best way.

4) KSA is known to have put in tremendous work into his legendary career/music, had he had been awarded and recognized for it many times, in fact, he earned the title King of juju music in Nigeria. Out of all the awards and recognition he has received, the one which stands out is the fact that he is the first Nigerian artist to ever receive international recognition.

After a massive recognition rate in the 70s, he went on to sign a record contract in 1982 with Island Records where he created two albums,(Juju Music &Syncho System) in 1982 and 1983. Both albums got international attention the gave Nigeria her first Grammy nomination.

5)
Just as much as Sunny Ade loves music, he loves his women. KSA Had 7 wives until of recent when he lost his first wife to death. The incident occurred a day to his 75th birthday which was the 21st of September 2021. Currently, KSA  still has 6 wives.

KSA musical works are phenomenal and they have the tendency to live on years after he passes thanks to a man who broke tradition and followed his passion.
