Quick Facts About Ebenezer Obey

There is no doubt that Nigerians are indeed talented, this is not even about being tech-savvy or having the ability to navigate this technology-saturated world, but we have been manifesting in creativity right form when we could. One of the most creative and talented fellows that were well known during his active years and are still recognized in this 21st century is the noble musician Ebenezer Obey. Obey was musically talented and creative which gave him tons of fans within and outside Nigeria, and another distinct thing about him is even was that even as he was of the Juju genre of music, a few of the lyrics of his songs were religious inclined, this was unlike his competitors in a 70s way down to the 90s. In this article, we will quickly go through some facts about the living legend.  

1) Ebenezer Obey was born on the 3rd of April in the year 1942, as of the year 2021, when this article was written, Ebenezer Obey is 79 years old.

2)  Although well known as Ebenezer Obey, his full name is Ebenezer Olasupo Remilekun Aremu Obey-Fabiyi, quite long though (wink).

3) The musical legend hails from Ogun state, specifically from the Owu part of Egba land. His heritage has inspired some of his songs.

4) Setting out musically, Ebenezer took music as a career after he was through with his internship with Rolling Dollar, this was during the mid-50s.

5) His venture into the music industry came with progress, a few years after he ventured into music fully, he created his own band in the year 1964, he called the band The International Brothers. Obey and the band would later create amazing music together.

6) Between the '70s and '90s, Obey released about 50 albums, some of which were well-favoured by the audience, this helped him well in most musical battles he fought with his competitors during his active years.

when you listen to any of Obey's music, you will find out that he is lyrically and instrumentally, there is no doubt that there is talent manifesting in the song you'll hear, this has been what has kept his songs special and his name relevant.
