Kollington Ayinla; Things You Should Know

Kollington Ayinla also known as Alhaji Kollington, Kebe n Kwara, or General, is one of the foremost popular Fuji musicians in Nigeria. His spectacular talent made him constantly compete with his colleagues be it deliberately or not. In this article we will take a look at his life, sharing a few things it is believed you should know about him. 

1) Ayinla was Born on the 18th of August in the year 1953, as of 2021 he's age 68, still quite young of you to ask me. 

2) He began singing in the year 1965 at the age of 12, he got signed into the record label  EMI in the year 1974 as at the time he got in, he was 21 years of age. His record contract lasted 5 years.

3) Did you know Kollington was once in the Nigerian Army? Yes he was, he was recruited during the Nigerian Civil War. It was during his time in the Army he learnt the rudiments and some instruments in music. 

4) Setting an amazing music record, Ayinla released about 50 albums during his 5-year contract with EMI. In his whole musical career, he released about 70 albums. 

5) One of the things that got Ayinla even more famous was his Martoama to the Queen of Waka music, Salawa Abeni. Although the marriage bore fruits (children one of which is a musician too) it ended bitterly, which also got to the front pages of Newspapers.

General Killington Ayinla had a spectacular musical experience and his music definitely made people smile. I'm sure he would be proud of himself.
