Nigerian Tourism: National Museum Ile-Ife.

The National Museum in Ile Ife is a must-visit for tourists coming into Nigeria. Being amongst the oldest museums in Nigeria, the structure on its own has several histories attached to it and so does the content it houses.

The National museum Ile Ife was built in 1948 which is 12 years before Nigeria gained her independence. It houses several artifacts, paintings, and items associated with the nation and also to the Yoruba tribe.

Just as its name depicts,  the museum is located in the city of Ile Ife in Osun state which is 243.2 km about 4hours away from Lagos state. The gate fee for adults is 1000 naira while for children is 500 naira, pictures are not allowed neither is food.

While at the location you can take notes of all the museum guide says and take a few pictures outside the museum. Afterwards, a tour of Ile Ife city is not a bad idea.
