Silence
The power of music
We all have those days were things are not going the way we envisioned, days were you just want to crawl in bed, turn off the light and hide underneath your duvet waiting for the storm to pass over. In those days, I have learnt to appreciate the power of music, when the sound of the instruments brings warmth and comfort to you.

Luxury
What really is luxury? When you tell some people you are going to the spa or going shopping, they classify it as luxury but is it really? Luxury can be referred to as indulging in something that is not necessary.

Monday Motivation!
Growing up in Abuja, I remember going to high school with a lot of politicians’ children and I always thought they were better than me because of the cars and flashy things they brought to school.
Age Factor
I was once turned down for a management position because of my age, I had
all the necessary qualifications and all the key competencies the organization
was after. A close family friend that knew someone in the organization reached
out to inform me that they considered me for the role, but they said I
was too young for the position.
Courtesy
What really is courtesy? I think in Nigeria we have termed it as referring to someone as “Ma” or “Sir” because of the age of the individual.

Don't fake it!
There is a
common saying that goes, "fake it till you make it". I have a
different view about this. I believe instead of one faking it; you can just
package it. Faking it means you are not just lying but also impersonating.
Packaging means
you are giving a good outlook to something or about someone. A good example is
when you get your first job or business opportunity. You do not want people to
know you are a novice, so you package like you have years of experience and try
as much as possible to offer the best. This is perfectly understandable.
Faking it
implies, you know you do not have a degree, but you still apply, then they give
you the job. Fortunately, you become good at it but then someone is suspicious
of you and starts to look too closely and discovers you are a fraud.
I know this
sounds like a Nigerian movie but I rather you package than fake it. It is
better to be the person that oversold themselves than the one that lied to get
the job, contract, or even get the girl or guy. You do not have to lie just be
yourself.

Concept of saving money
I
remember a job I had; the pay was so poor I could barely get by. In fact, my
parents had to send money every month to augment my living allowance. The first
few months were rough but after a while I made up my mind to save no matter how
little.
The first thing I did was to buy what we in Nigeria call,
"Kolo" which is known as Piggybank abroad. I bought two, I put one
underneath my bed in Lagos and the second underneath my grandma's bed in Ibadan
because I shuttled the two places often.
I made it a point of duty to randomly put N500 any day possible and
some days I put N1000. It was not easy by a long shot, but I found a way to
make it work.
Things are changing and we even have online piggybanks now, that
makes it easier for one to save. No matter how little, save for a rainy
day!
Business or Career?
It is so funny to me every time this argument comes up, are people serious? Like, how can this even be a topic for discussion.

5 minutes sleep
Is it just me or five minutes nap hits different? I mean, you know all those days you are knackered, and your body feels like if you do not close your eyes for at least five minutes, you might drop dead.

Series or Movies?
I do not remember the first movie I ever watched but I definitely remember my first series because of something interesting that happened that day.
Perception
When you slip or fall down in Nigeria, everyone around you screams "Sorry" but in some parts of the world if you say sorry, they respond, "why are you saying sorry, it was not your fault".

Custom
Custom! A specific practice of long standing. I once had a Kenyan flatmate that believed it was wrong to dry your towel after you shower in the bathroom.
Culture
Growing up the word "Culture" always seemed very restrictive to me, because most of our aunties and uncles made us think if we did not greet a certain way we were not raised right. I remember an uncle of mine that insisted I kneel down on a stony surface to greet him.
